Octopus is a strong animated children’s film about incest between underage siblings. The film shows an abuse between a big brother and a younger sister, and the hard time afterwards – where the practitioner and the victim must be taken care of and able to move on in life.

Based on the book “Octopus” by Gro Dahle and Svein Nyhus.

About the director

Anita dears to bring difficult topics for a young audience out on the screen and has made films with themes like children in war, depression, and domestic violence, to mention some. She wants to inspire and move her audience with her animations.

Anita is an idealistic filmmaker and has written, directed, animated, and produced her own films, from her company Trollfilm. After going through chemo from cancer, she is now focusing more on writing and directing in the future.

Anita thinks there is a lot of good and nicely done animation around, but often the content is too futile. She is excited about epic/lyrical films that sometimes move slowly but are beautiful and give space to let the audience think for themselves. Anita has primarily worked with films for children that also inspired adults. Children are vulnerable and easily affected, and that's why filmmakers should have a great responsibility as conveyors, messengers, and educators. Quality films for children are sadly often of lesser priority than artistic films for adults which are of abundance.
